SUMMARY:Applying the QM Rubric
DESCRIPTION:Description: The APPQMR course introduces participants to the 
 Quality Matters Rubric and the process of using that rubric to review onli
 ne courses.  The course is online and facilitated and requires 8-10 hours
  of work during each of the two weeks. Regardless of whether the course is
  QM- or SPC-facilitated\, it is the same exact content\, due dates\, and a
 ssessments.  Note that missing a due date in this course will cause you t
 o be dropped from the course.  So please make sure you have sufficient ti
 me to complete the course before you commit to registration.  Once the co
 urse begins\, you are committed.\n\nAudience: This course is intended for
  anyone currently developing a Standard course for SPC or intending to rev
 ise their solo-developed course to become Quality Matters certified.\n\nOp
 tions:\n\nOption 1: The SPC-facilitated course is free to SPC registrants.
   There is a $25 fee that SPC pays to QM for every participant enrolled o
 n Day 1 of the class. Once the course begins you cannot drop. The course i
 s offered approximately every 6 weeks\, with the exception of holiday brea
 ks.\n\nPrerequisite:  None\n\nCourse Goals &amp\; Objectives\n\n 	Recogni
 ze the foundational concepts of Quality Matters.\n 	Identify the critical 
 elements of the QM quality assurance program\, including the QM Rubric\, m
 aterials\, processes\, and administrative components.\n 	Apply the QM High
 er Education Rubric\, Sixth Edition to review online courses.\n 	Make deci
 sions on whether a sample course meets selected QM Rubric Specific Review 
 Standards.\n 	Apply the concept of alignment.\n 	Draft helpful recommendat
 ions for course improvement by citing Annotations from the QM Rubric and e
 vidence from the course.\n 	Collaborate and network with colleagues throug
 h substantive and timely interactions.\n 	Reflect on key QM concepts and w
 hether you wish to serve on a peer review team.\n 	Explore the challenges 
 of online teaching by familiarizing yourself with the QM Rubric and a samp
 le course.\n 	Relate the QM Rubric (Specific Review Standards and Annotati
 ons) to your own course and consider changes that might benefit your onlin
 e learners.\n 	Offer constructive feedback to improve the QM APPQMR worksh
 op.\n\nCourse Prerequisites\n\n 	Access to a computer with Internet access
 .\n 	Familiarity with a learning management system.\n 	Basic computer skil
 ls: email/attachments\, word processing\, submitting files\, etc.\n\nCours
 e Requirements\n\nActive participation is required for successful completi
 on of this course. Participants are expected to read information and follo
 w directions to complete a variety of assignments and activities.\n\nCours
