This course provides faculty with the knowledge and skills to develop a high-quality online course based upon existing approved course objectives.
Course Objectives
- Apply the St. Petersburg College process of online course revitalization.
- Identify components of a sound course that leads to an effective and efficient learning experience.
Course Prerequisites
- Completion of the Quality Matters (QM) workshop: Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR)
- Presently, this course is limited to: Development Facilitators (DFs) on Standard Online Course development teams, Peer Reviewers (PRs) on Standard Online Course development teams, and full-time SPC faculty members who intend to solo-develop online courses.
Course Requirements
Active participation is required for successful completion of this course. Participants are expected to read information and follow directions to complete a variety of assignments and activities.
Course Schedule
“Developing an Online Course” is a two-week online course.
- Module 1 – Introduction
- Module 2 – Course Design and Structure
- Module 3 – Assessment and Measurement
- Module 4 – Course Activities and Learner Interaction
- Module 5 – Instructional Materials
- Module 6 – The SPC Online Course Revitalization Process
Course Enrollment:
This course is limited to 20 participants, 10 of whom are identified by the Executive Director of Instructional Design & Development as part of the Standard Online Course Revitalization process.
If you have been assigned as a Development Facilitator (DF) or a Peer Reviewer (PR) on a Standard Online Course development team (by your Dean or the Executive Director of Instructional Design and Development), you are already pre-registered for this course.
