Teaching Online Certification
The Teaching Online Certification consists of two required courses: “Faculty Certification for MyCourses” and “Teaching an Online Course.” Both courses are completed entirely online. This certification is required prior to teaching an online course at SPC.
Teaching an Online Course (TOC)
This course provides faculty with the knowledge and skills to teach and facilitate learning in an asynchronous online environment. Activities and assignments focus on the faculty’s role on student success, and can be applied to teaching fully online, blended, LIVE online, and face-to-face. This is a two-week facilitated online course with assignment deadlines throughout each week, taking approximately 15-20 hours to complete. This course is limited to 15 participants. Note: This professional development is 100% online with no synchronous meetings. Your facilitator will monitor assignment deadlines and provide feedback.

Audience: Faculty preparing to teach an online or blended course
Prerequisite: Completion of “Faculty Certification for MyCourses” – see below.

Faculty Certification for MyCourses (FCM)
This course explores the most commonly utilized teaching functions in SPC’s Learning Management System, MyCourses. The course is online and self-paced. Newly hired faculty are enrolled in the course as part of the on-boarding process and are required to complete it prior to teaching. The course includes a set of activities in the online environment and is facilitated by a Faculty Facilitator.
Audience: Newly Hired Faculty
How to register: You will be automatically enrolled in this course when you are hired as an SPC faculty member. You will receive an email with steps for completing the course. If you have not received notification of enrollment, please contact mycourses4faculty@spcollege.edu
